The bulking tanks store the crude and refined palm oils until they are ready to be piped directly to the tankers which berth at the nearby jetties. This is a cost efficient method of transporting and handling large volumes of edible oils as the ships are able to berth close to the storage tanks for immediate loading.

The 2 privately owned jetties, which are the only private jetties in Sabah, are capable of berthing 3 ships at any time and handle 80,000 tonnes simultaneously.

The bulking tanks are purpose built with a special internal coating to meet international standards for the storage of  edible oils, and the contents are inspected and tested regularly to ensure the products are stored at the highest quality.
